ADVANCED MODEL ROCKETRY CAMP

This camp is open to students who have completed our Rocketry Course or have some experience in the hobby! The goal of this camp is to explore additional concepts in model rocketry such as two-stage rockets, cluster-engines, and different recovery techniques. We will use “egg-lofting” to provide emphasis on balance and payload…and hopefully our recovery effort! Students will build one rocket from a kit, and construct a second rocket of their own design. Program fee is $180 plus a $80 supply fee is registered by 4/15; $195 plus a $80 supply fee after 4/15.

ADVANCED VETS IN TRAINING

If you couldn't get enough of Vets in Training and want to learn about wild or exotic animals, then this camp is for you! For any animal lover or aspiring veterinarian, this camp offers continued hands on experience in the field of veterinary medicine but for exotic animals. Ever wonder how to give medicine to a bird or snake? This camp will show you how! This camp offers several speakers and demonstrations that promise to impress! Field trips include the USDA Wildlife Research Facility, Santa Fe College Teaching Zoo, Lubee Bat Conservancy and even a monkey sanctuary (subject to change)! Your camper will learn how to care for wild and exotic animals, see what a day in the life of a zoo keeper is like, and get to encounter animals of all shapes and sizes! You won't want to miss it! AVIATION CAMP

Oak Hall School and Sky Chiefs Aviation have teamed up for this incredible opportunity new to campers this year! Oak Hall graduate Ryan Foote (’96) a Certified Flight Instructor will lead this camp which will allow campers an opportunity to discover flight! Campers will learn what is necessary to obtain a pilot certificate; go through a basic ground school; learn the basics of an airplane and how they fly; visit the tower at Gainesville regional Airport; and culminate their week with a 45 minute flight around Gainesville where they will actually pilot a Cessna 172SP! This camp is limited to six campers and a $375 non-refundable deposit is due on registration. Transportation will leave Oak Hall daily for the Gainesville Regional airport departing at 8:00 AM and returning at 12:20 PM. Program cost is $750 if registered by 4/15; $800 if after 4/15.

Calling all royal princesses! Join your Fairy Godmother in this exciting new camp at Castle Oak Hall! Children will listen to the old favorite tales of royalty, play princess games, make special royal crafts to bring home, and enhance reading skills. They will also know all there is about wearing glass slippers and sleeping on a pea! Camp will conclude with the Royal Ball and Tea Party to which Mom and Dad are invited! Welcome to the exciting world of good food and good fun in the kitchen! Oak Hall and The Institute of Culinary Arts of Eastside High School are offering this innovative program. Students learn garnishes such as apple birds and melon swans while learning knife skills. Crepes will be taught while learning measurements and how to follow recipes. And no class would be complete without chocolate. Students will learn by doing! With the guidance of the chef, students will prepare and cook the food. At the end of the class students will taste and enjoy the projects. Camp will be held at Eastside High School in a full commercial training kitchen. Campers will have access to a full culinary library and culinary arts computer programs. Transportation available daily from OHS departing at 8:00 and returning at 12:20 or camper may be dropped off directly at Eastside High School. Oak Hall has teamed up with the Florida Academy of Etiquette and Protocol for this new camp! Classes are fun and interactive with role-playing for every etiquette rule learned. This is a fun, interactive and informative class with role playing activities which teach correct and current etiquette for today. The class builds self-esteem, confidence and leadership skills. Campers learn to navigate a placesetting, the 65 table manners, American and Continental styles of eating and how to dine with ease. The class is taught by Robin Steele, Founder and Director of Florida Academy of Etiquette & Protocol who is certified in international protocol from the Academy of Etiquette & Protocol. The class includes 15 hours of etiquette instruction, student workbook, daily snacks, a tutorial snack lunch and a four-course graduation luncheon and award of completion. GUITAR CAMP: SUMMER SCHOOL OF ROCK

From the bluesy riffs of Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, and Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin) to the southern fried rock of the Allman Brothers and Lynyrd Skynyrd, to the heavy rhythm guitar of AC/DC and Aerosmith, this Guitar Camp will offer beginning to intermediate guitarists a chance to learn the styles behind legendary rock and roll sounds. Electric and acoustic guitarists are both welcome, and depending on the make-up of the class, we’ll cover fundamental techniques for both instruments. We will also work on playing together and improvisation over basic blues patterns in several keys, with the hope of learning how to develop our ears to play along with our favorite songs. All you need to bring is a guitar (or guitar and small practice amp) and a positive attitude. You may also bring along a portable recorder for later practice. Because four hours of straight guitar playing is nearly impossible, we’ll also find some fun downtime activities, including watching some instructional and concert videos. Led by Magician and Illusionist of the House of Flying Card’s Gainesville Chapter's Dan Smith, your young magician will learn a lot of “self working” tricks using cards and various props. The week will conclude with a magic show on Friday so that parents, friends, and family can be dazzled with this new found talent. IT’S A GIRL THING! SPA LIFE CAMP

This camp will be led by various experts in the Spa Industry from Cloud 9 Spa Salon, a national award winning day spa. Aside from learning about all things in the exciting world of “Spa”, young ladies will receive instruction on how to improve personal grooming in areas such as hair care, nail care and skin care. Basic body wellness, stretching and stress management techniques will be taught as well as hand self-massage techniques to soothe the aches and pains associated with gaming/texting/writing. Girls will learn “spa insider” secrets to creating and maintaining great manicures, pedicures, hair styles and a natural, healthy glow. We will create fun and simple spa @ home recipes which can be taken home and used. We will work to create an environment of positive self image and celebrate the uniqueness that each young beauty has. This camp offering will include hands on activities, projects, and instruction with written materials and creative “build your own product” fun. By the end of the camp week, junior spa life experts will have a spa tote full of accessories, goodies and written materials and be equipped with information on how to put their best self forward! Under the direction of a University of Florida doctoral candidate in criminology, students will learn and examine Oak Hall’s own “crime scene.” Felix is dead! The Crime Scene Investigation Unit (that’s you) has been called in. Observe the crime scene, collect evidence, perform forensic testing, and prepare the best possible case against a suspect. We’ll also meet an actual forensic detective and explore other analysis skills that may help us in our future investigations. RC AIRPLANE CAMP

Campers will receive their very own all inclusive Electric Super Cub Remote Control Model Airplane completely ready to fly. Campers will be introduced to basic principles of aerodynamics as they discover what makes an airplane fly. Campers will learn the various parts of their plane and what the purpose of these parts are. Safety of owning and operating a model airplane will be highly stressed. After becoming familiar with their planes the fun and joy of flying begins. Students will learn to fly their plane with the help of experienced RC Pilots from the Flying Gators RC Club. Along with flying their planes at Oak Hall, campers will visit the Flying Gators Club Field to see a variety of RC airplanes fly. A trip to Hobby Town USA to see many models, and a chance to use the flight simulator will be an added treat. RC CAR CAMP

Got a little Dale Earnhardt Jr. in you? Maybe you’re the next Danica Patrick? But wait, you don’t have a drivers’ license? That’s not a problem in this new and exciting camp led by the staff at Hobby Town USA. Campers will receive their own 1/10 scale Radio Controlled car that they will help assemble and then learn how to maintain. Campers will learn the theory of how and why the car works from the transmission and gearing, to the suspension and handling! Of course camp would not be complete without a few driving lessons in preparation for the Oak Hall 500 to be held on the closing day of the camp. Campers will also enjoy field trips to the Hobby Town USA store in Gainesville as well as a professional track where they will be able to test their skills against fellow campers! Ever wanted to blast something 1500 feet into the air or higher? Build ’em and fly ’em! That’s what campers do in this cool course.Young “rocketeers” will have fun assembling, painting and launching a beginner-level rocket. Students will learn the basics of model rocketry, safety codes, and the basics of flight. Responsible behavior with model rockets will be strongly emphasized. Program fee includes professional instruction and a complete take-home model rocket with launching pad for each camper! SUPERSITTERS

Oak Hall School and the North Central Florida Chapter of the American Red Cross are teaming up to offer this fun and educational course to prepare individuals for one of the most common first jobs . . . the babysitter! All participants will learn adult, child, and infant CPR and First Aid, as well as receive training in the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AED) so that they can overcome any reluctance to act in an emergency situation. Participants will also receive training from the America Red Cross in the skills necessary to equip them as a babysitter (11 & up can be certified). Infant care skills and play supervision are included. Those who successfully complete the course will receive an endorsement in Oak Hall’s Babysitters Directory which is published annually in the Fall. THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF DOGS

Are you crazy about canines? Have you ever watched the National Dog Show or the Agility Championships on Animal Planet and dreamed that it was you and your dog in the spotlight? If so, then this camp is for you and your dog! Get to know the ins-and-outs of the dog world from a breeder-owner-handler of many obedience and conformation titled dogs. This camp will offer an introduction to basic dog obedience training and dog handling techniques. Participants will also learn about routine care and grooming, nutrition, medical care and first aid, making your own healthy dog treats, and fun activities that you and your dog can participate in. Proof of current Rabies vaccination must be brought to the first session before dog and handler may join the camp. No aggressive dogs will be allowed and the camper must be able to control his/ her dog. Please bring a crate to camp with you if you have one. VETS IN TRAINING

Do you love animals? Do you want to learn more about animal care? If you said yes, then this camp is for you! For any animal lover or aspiring veterinarian, learn what it takes to be a small animal veterinarian or animal care taker. This introduction to veterinary medicine includes the differences between small animal and large animal care. Field trips will include a tour of a state of the art veterinary hospital with intensive care unit and surgery ward, Therapeutic Horse Farm, Alachua County Humane Society, and even local pet stores to learn about exotic pets (subject to change)! Your camper will learn how to do a physical exam, see what a day in the life of a real veterinarian is like, and get to encounter animals of all shapes and sizes! You won't want to miss it!
