Oak Hall School has a long history in the game of baseball and this year under the leadership of 2007 Oak Hall graduate and current Rollins College catcher Ryan Harvey, 2008 Oak Hall graduate and current Stetson University outfielder Tyler Erickson, and 2009 Oak Hall Graduate and current Georgia Southern pitcher Chris Myers, the Baseball Skills Camp will be one of the finest camps for the baseball player trying to polish his skills and play effectively at the high school level and beyond. The fundamentals of baseball will be worked on and instruction will include fine tuning proper throwing and catching techniques, fielding, hitting, base running and even game strategy! Campers are to bring their own equipment and should dress in baseball appropriate clothing (baseball pants, tee shirt, and of course a ball cap!). Campers are also encouraged to wear plenty of sunscreen and bring plenty of fluids as we enjoy this National pastime during the days of summer! The camp will be held on the grounds of Oak Hall School utilizing the schools beautifully manicured baseball diamond. Enrollment for this unique camp is limited! BOYS’ BASKETBALL CAMP

This fun, skill-intensive program is designed with the intermediate age player in mind. Using our progression method and focusing on fundamentals, the staff will work on group and individual improvement. They will start each day with a 'skill of the day', and progress into drills and games making for an unforgettable camp experience. Campers will be instructed by members of the Oak Hall Basketball staff. Guest speakers will also address several aspects of the game. After a week of passing, shooting, dribbling and rebounding each player will be ready for their school basketball season. Register by 4/15 for $180 or after

Learn this exciting and increasingly popular fast-paced game— America’s first sport! This program will provide basic instruction in stick skills and the concepts of the game. For younger, unequipped campers, there will be a competitive field day-like component that will be a lot of fun; for our older, fully equipped campers, there will be the opportunity for full-contact play to more fully experience the game. Several guest counselors with extensive lacrosse experience will provide instruction on such aspects of the game as dodging, shooting, feeding, defense, face-offs, and goalie play. FENCING

Oak Hall School and the Florida Fencing Academy team up to offer this unique camp that will introduce the sport of fencing. This camp is for the beginner, intermediate, or advanced fencer and will introduce saber, foil, and epee fencing. Beginning with a T’ai Chi, Yoga, and foot-work warm-up, the camp will cover fencing instruction, equipment instruction and safety, and have some fun games, relays, and skill development contests. All necessary equipment will be provided. Program cost is $180 if registered by 4/15; $195 if registering after 4/15.
FOOTBALL SKILLS SPECIALTY CAMP

This camp is designed for the player who has aspirations of one day playing the game at the high school level. In this specialty camp, members of the Oak Hall football staff will work with athletes on the basics of the game including passing, catching, punting, kicking as well as position-specific techniques for linemen, defensive players, and skill positions like quarterback, running back, and receiver. The camp is encouraged for players who want to get a jump on the skills necessary to compete in high school football. Program cost is $180 if registered by 4/15; $195 if registering after 4/15.

FUNDAMENTALS OF DANCE:JAZZ AND BALLET

IndepenDANCE Studio of Gainesville will be at Oak Hall for a week to introduce an exciting week of dancing. Students will have the opportunity to take a dance crash course on the fundamentals of dance styles such as ballet, jazz, hip hop, and musical theatre. At the end of the week, dancers will have gained grace, poise, coordination, and self-esteem as well as the many physical benefits dance can provide. Students will learn a background history of classical dance, as well as have the opportunity to learn choreography for their very own performance at the conclusion of the camp. A 'dance studio' experience field trip will also be including in this exciting week. Dancers will get to visit and dance in a professional studio. IndepenDANCE Studio strives to provide a great foundation to the world of performing arts, and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to work with your child. Black leotard and tan dance tights are required. A uniform fee of $40 is required which will include a pair of dance shoes and a IndepenDANCE camp shirt. The Oak Hall Basketball Camp introduces campers to the basic fundamentals of basketball, such as passing, dribbling, shooting, and rebounding taught by the Oak Hall basketball coaching staff. Kids will have an opportunity to showcase these skills in contests such as “Hot Shot, Mikan Drill, Knockout, 1-on-1, and Money Ball.” The camp will have a mixture of drills, contests, and playing. The players will be divided based on age and skill level. The camp will take place in Oak Hall’s air-conditioned Oxborough Gymnasium. Players must wear comfortable clothing and basketball shoes suitable for a wood floor. Register by 4/15 for $180 or after

Girls’ Lacrosse is coming to Oak Hall as a full fledged sport in 2010-2011, so you what a better way to get a jump start on the action than to join this new & fun paced camp! Led by skilled players and coaches, camp will include stick-work practices, games, and solid instruction that will focus on offensive and defensive strategies to help the players further refine their skills. The golf professionals at Haile Plantation Golf and Country Club and Oak Hall are teaming up to offer golf camp once again! The camp will be an ideal place for young golfers of all abilities to improve their swing and lower their score. The golf professionals will help the young golfer bolster confidence and create consistency, two ingredients necessary for a lower score. All facets of the game will be covered- full swing, putting, short game and course management. Campers must be dropped off and picked up at Haile Plantation. No extended care services are available. Players will be divided by age group and skill level and will receive individual instruction on spiking, setting, and serving. Fundamentals of team play and the rules of the game will be emphasized as well as conditioning concepts. Camp will be held on two volleyball courts in the air conditioned Oak Hall School Oxborough Gym. Each player must wear appropriate attire, including tennis shoes and knee-pads. Camp Leader for Hit Squad I is 4 year University of Florida Volleyball letter winner and Captain Christina Diaz who is currently an assistant coach for Radford University in Virginia. Hit Squad II will be led by Oak Hall State Champion Volleyball Coach Cari Martin who has recorded over 500 career wins in high school volleyball. The Georgia Jumpers Jump Rope Team which has competed in Junior Olympics, the USA Jump Rope Regional Tournament, and the US National Championships comes to Oak Hall for this new and “peachy keen” camp! Camp will include instruction in single rope skills, long rope skills, double dutch, and Chinese wheel! All instruction will be by members of the Jump Rope Team and one of their coaches. Each camper will receive a single rope and a beaded rope and camp will culminate with a performance on Friday by The Georgia Jumpers as well as the newly trained Oak Hall Jumpers! University of Florida Cheerleader Ashley Morris comes to Oak Hall to help us bring back a once strong and award-winning program at OHS! Ashley has been a cheerleader since 1999 cheering for The Gators and Troy University. She also served as the Head Instructor for Cheer Technique Camps for 5 years! This camp will teach the basics of how to be a cheerleader. Motion technique, jump skills, cheer/chant class, and dance will be taught. Motions are the basis of any type of cheer performance. Once the motions have been taught, jumps, cheers and chants will be learned. This involves jump technique and memorizing words that go with motions. Once that has been perfected, a short dance routine will be taught so participants can learn rhythm and counts. Participants will be given a lot of information about cheerleading, with hopes that they will become more skilled in the sport. In addition to the above mentioned course content, participants will also learn about conditioning so that they can have the endurance necessary to be a cheerleader. For the fifth consecutive year, members of the Varsity Football Team will
travel to YMCA Camp McConnell for this MANDATORY football camp to prepare for the season. Practices will be conducted in a “two-a-day” format and will be complimented by film sessions, position specific strategy sessions, and team building sessions. The camp will culminate with a Friday night scrimmage and bar-b-que for parents and fans. Camp fee includes all meals and snacks, lodging, lifeguards for swim activities, and rope course fees. A deposit of $100 is required. Program fee is $250 if registered by 4/15; $265 after 4/15.

Advanced skills such as pancake digs and proper rolling techniques will also be taught. Each player must wear appropriate attire including tennis shoes and kneepads. Oak Hall Softball Coach and Gainesville Gold Coach Nikki Madden will lead the 2010 softball camp. Coach Madden is also a former collegiate player for the University of Mobile. Campers will learn and strengthen fundamental techniques for the game of fast-pitch softball. Instruction will focus on throwing and catching mechanics, batting, including bunting and slapping, base running, and finally infield and outfield play. Participation by those in the Oak Hall Softball Program is strongly encouraged, but enrollment is open to anyone interested in the game. The week will end with a softball camp wide scrimmage! STRICTLY SHOOTING BASKETBALL SKILLS TRAINING CAMP

Strictly Shooting returns to Gainesville for the eighth year with an expanded, full-day camp that includes Strictly Shooting and Strictly Dribbling sessions along with speed and agility and game situation training that will create a total learning experience in basketball fundamentals for players of all ages. Gary and Dave Groharing are traveling from Chicago to present key elements from their Strictly Shooting instructional school, which has taught more than 20,000 students (including some 400 Gainesville basketball players) since its inception in 1998. The difference between a poor shooter and a great shooter is proper shooting technique. The staff of Strictly Shooting is dedicated to teaching all aspects of proper shooting technique. At each daily lesson students receive highly personalized instructions with take home drills provided to each student to reinforce proper shooting technique. This specially designed camp includes:
• Introduction of the Strictly Shooting technique
• Five-step approach to free throw shooting
• Introduction of initial footwork for jump shot
• Shooting off the dribble and off the pass
In addition to daily shooting and dribbling teaching sessions, all-day campers will be able to improve and expand their total game with Dave Groharing’s Strictly Basketball Training Camp, designed to develop each player’s all-around basketball skill level in the following areas:
• Speed and agility training to improve lateral movement, vertical leap, first-step quickness, balance, hand-eye coordination and overall footwork
• Game-situation training including defense on the ball, help-side defense, pick-and-rolls, box outs, passing, triple-threat options, post moves and proper layup footwork and finishes around the basket

Stay in shape this summer and prepare for the upcoming sports season! For the serious student-athlete only, this camp supervised by members of the Oak Hall coaching staff will prepare the student-athlete through sport-specific strength and conditioning training to improve power, speed, and agility. Student-athletes in any sport may participate. All that is required is a desire to improve yourself as an athlete, a good attitude, and good work ethic! Participants should dress in comfortable workout clothes with sturdy athletic shoes. Please bring a workout towel and plenty of fluids. Camp meets daily from 7:00-9:30 AM, Monday through Thursday. TRACK CAMP

A new & improved Track Camp is back this summer! Oak Hall School has teamed up with Bernard Williams, a 2000 Olympic Gold Medal Winner in the 4X100 Meter Relay. Bernard was also the first UF sprinter to win the 100 meter race at Nationals. We will be introducing future young athletes to several of the less well known events as well as the more popular ones. Each day will be broken into two sessions. First session will begin with either a video or a lecture on that session’s topic. Then we will head to the track and apply the material that was just presented. Then there will be a 30 minute break before we begin the second session. The second session will be just like the first, go over that session’s material then to the track to apply the material. At the end of the camp there will be a track meet Friday for the kids to pick 2-3 events they would like to participate in! Events to be covered (subject to change) Monday: Hydration and Nutrition/ Importance of Stretching; Tuesday: Drills/ Long Jump; Wednesday: High Jump / Distance running; Thursday: Shot Put/ Sprints; Friday: Relays and Track Meet. VOLLEYBALL SPECIALTY CAMP FOR HITTERS

Hitters Camp will be a comprehensive teaching of all aspects of competitive volleyball. Proper fundamental technique will be taught for passing, secondary setting, hitting, blocking, serving, and defense. The goals of this camp are to improve overall skills and get a better understanding of the game. Campers will have the benefit of learning from 4 year University of Florida Volleyball letter winner and Captain Christina Diaz who is currently an assistant coach for Radford University in Virginia. Athletes can expect to learn new drills, exercises, and strategies useful at all levels of competition. Enrollment will be limited to 16 campers to provide plenty of one-to-one instruction. Campers should dress in comfortable gym clothing and sturdy shoes. Program cost is $252 if registered by 4/15; $268 if registering after 4/15.
