Students in Oak Hall’s Aviation class had the incredible opportunity to hear from Captain Hipp, an Airline Transport Pilot and senior instructor who evaluates pilots for UPS. Captain Hipp shared insights about his career in aviation, offering students a firsthand look at what it takes to pursue a future in flight and how professional pilots navigate the same airspace our students have been studying in class.

Fittingly, his presentation took place in the Gleim Aviation Center at Oak Hall School,  and it just so happened to coincide with Gleim Day, a perfect reminder of how passion for aviation connects learning from the classroom to the skies.

His engaging session brought textbook lessons to life, showing how classroom concepts translate directly to professional aviation. The visit was especially meaningful for student Will, as Captain Hipp is his uncle; a powerful example of how aviation runs in the family and how personal connections can inspire lifelong passion.

“Oak Hall’s aviation program gives students hands-on opportunities to explore flight, meteorology, and aeronautics,” said Mike Martinez, Oak Hall Aviation Instructor. “Having professionals like Captain Hipp engage with our students helps them see the exciting future that’s possible in this field.”

Oak Hall extends sincere thanks to Captain Hipp and Gleim Aviation for their partnership and ongoing commitment to helping young Eagles reach new heights in aviation education.
