Shadow Day

As part of the Oak Hall application process, we require all applicants to attend a Shadow Day and immerse themselves in our vibrant community! Shadow Days offer a fantastic opportunity for students to connect with teachers and administrators and attend engaging classes. Experience firsthand the dynamic environment that makes Oak Hall so special!

Once we have received all completed requirements of the application, the Enrollment Team will reach out to schedule your applicant’s Shadow Day. Please see the Admissions Procedure Checklist below.

Early Childhood Learning Center Shadow Day

We are thrilled to welcome our prospective 3-year-old Preschool*, 4-year-old Junior Kindergarten, and 5-year-old Kindergarten students for a short assessment and classroom time!

Drop-off:

  • Please come to the Lower School Office at the designated time.
  • Students should wear comfortable play clothes and tennis shoes.
  • Feel free to send a water bottle with his/her name for the duration of the visit.

Assessment:

  • Students will complete a short assessment, which will last about 20–30 minutes.
  • We understand how difficult it can be to drop off your little one, but we find they shine after just a few moments with our testing administrators. We kindly ask that you wait in the lobby or take the opportunity to grab a coffee or run an errand until the arranged pick-up time.

Shadow Experience:

  • After the assessment, the student will join one of our classes for a 30-minute shadow experience.

Pick-up:

  • Please return to the ECLC Office for pick-up at the designated time.

*Preschool applicants must be at least 3 years old and potty trained before we can complete the admissions assessment and shadow day.

Lower School Shadow Day

We are thrilled to welcome prospective 1st-5th grade students for an assessment and Shadow Day!

Drop-off:

  • Please come to the Administration Building at 8:00 am to start the day.    
  • Bring a peanut-free packed lunch, a peanut-free snack, and a water bottle  
  • Appropriate dress is comfortable school clothes and tennis shoes. Please note that hooded sweatshirts are not allowed.

Shadow Experience and Assessment:

  • Prospective students will spend the day with their peers in their current grade and will also complete an admissions assessment during their visit.

Pick-up:

  • Please return to Administration Building at 2:30 pm for pick-up.

Middle and Upper School Shadow Day

We are thrilled to welcome prospective 6th-12th grade students for a Shadow Day!

Drop-off:

  • Please come to the Administration Building at 8:00 am to start the day.   
  • Bring a peanut-free packed lunch and a water bottle  
  • We will provide a folder with paper and a pencil for the day. 

Dress Code:

  • Appropriate attire includes a collared shirt or blouse, jeans, pants, or shorts (with a 5″ inseam or longer). Alternatively, appropriate-length skirts or dresses that cover the shoulders are also acceptable. Please note that hooded sweatshirts are not allowed. Shoes should have a back (no flip-flops).
  • Middle School students will attend PE during the day and should wear sneakers. 

Cell Phone Policy:

  • Students may bring a cell phone, but it must remain in their backpack during class hours. 

Shadow Experience:

  • Prospective students will be greeted by a Student Ambassador who will guide them throughout the day. We strive to pair each prospective student with an ambassador who shares similar interests, ensuring a meaningful connection. Students will stay with their ambassador for the entire day, including lunch, assembly, and advisory. Our ambassadors are excited to answer questions and share their personal stories about their time at Oak Hall, giving prospective students a glimpse into our welcoming school environment.

Pickup:

  • Please return to the Administration Building at 2:30 pm for pick-up.
